20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is a 1954 American science fiction adventure film directed by Richard Fleischer, from a screenplay by Earl Felton. Adapted from Jules Verne's 1870 novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, the film was produced by Walt Disney Productions. It stars Kirk Douglas, James Mason, Paul Lukas, and Peter Lorre. Photographed in Technicolor, the film was one of the first feature-length motion pictures to be filmed in CinemaScope. It was also the first feature-length Disney film to be distributed by Buena Vista Distribution.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was a critical and commercial success, being especially remembered for the fight with a giant squid, as well as Mason's definitive performance as the charismatic anti-hero Captain Nemo. The film won two Academy Awards for its art direction and special effects.

I have just finished my 3D printed model of the Nautulus – this is the design used in the movie 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea which came out in 1954.  It's a little rough around the edges, but it was fun to build.

1/156 Convair Shuttlecraft

Posted by Paul On May - 6 - 2000

5/6/2023 I've just finished this model of a space shuttlecraft by Convair.  This model kit was first issued in 1958 by Revell.  The kit I purchased on Ebay had very poor decals, so I just left them off.  I think it looks better withour them anyway.  The fit of the parts is crude, about what you would expect from a kit of this age.  Following are images of the box and description included with the instructions as well as construction photographs.  I painted it with Tamiya grey surface primer, then Tamiya X-14 sky blue.  This was followed with Alclad chrome, then Alclad blue and finally Tamiya X-11 chrome silver.
