1/6 M4A1 SHERMAN TANK

Posted by Paul On September - 12 - 2016

I had this built by Field of Armor Tanks.  It is full r/c with sound, smoke, fully functioning suspension and a lot of extra detail.  It is modeled from a tank in Company D, 66th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division.  The tanks name was DUKE which is my wife's maiden name, and the name of one of our sons.

The first photos are during the build process.

The photos below are from a model show in Long Beach California in about 2016.

I took these photos in my garage…

These photos were taken out on my driveway. Thse first one has a spray can to show scale.

These photos are from the 2017 IPMS Nationals in Omaha Nebraska. I didn't have the tank judged because there wasn't really a catagory for it.

Here is a photo of one of the anamatronic figures with electronics attached:

Rocky Mountain Expo 2026

Yesterday Nina and I attended the 2026 Rocky Mountain Expo at the Utah Cultural Community Center in West Valley City Utah. It was an amazing event and very well organized. This was put on by a local group – Scott GentryBarry Biediger, Shawn Shuler and many others. I brought the following:

1/200 Trumpeter USS Arizona

1/200 Trumpeter USS Missouri

1/16 Andy's Hobbies M4A3E8 Sherman tank

1/16 Takom 1/4 Ton Jeep

1/35 Tamiya M4A3E8 Easy 8 Sherman tank diorama

I had to carefully bring the two battleships up from my basement display room. At 76 years old it a little dicy. Then I had to pack them in my car so they could make the trip without damage. I used shelving boards connected by Gorilla Glue tape and museum wax to attach the ships to the shelving planks. That worked out really well.

Thanks so much for the help bringing them in and setting everything up!

I had good luck in the raffle. I bought 4 tickets and 2 of them were winners:

Here is an overview of the event:
